The first official trailer for 'Madden' has been released
The first official trailer for Madden, the biopic about legendary NFL coach and broadcaster John Madden, has been released. Madden stars Nicolas Cage in the lead role alongside fellow Oscar winner Christian Bale as late Raiders owner Al Davis.
Directed by controversial Three Kings, Silver Linings Playbook, and American Hustle filmmaker David O. Russell, Madden will be released on Prime Video on Wednesday, November 18.
According to Amazon MGM Studios, “the film follows Madden’s remarkable journey—from his Super Bowl-winning partnership with Al Davis and the Raiders, to creating Madden NFL, and becoming one of the most iconic voices in football history.”

Given Amazon’s recent experimentation with theatrical releases and the star-studded names attached to the project, Madden heading straight to streaming doesn’t suggest a massive vote of confidence from the studio.
Madden coached the Raiders for 10 seasons, retiring in 1979 with a .759 winning percentage — still the best of any coach with 100+ career wins — and a Super Bowl title.
He then became the first broadcaster to work for all four major networks (CBS, Fox, ABC, and NBC), winning 16 Sports Emmys along the way. He also famously lent his name to the Madden NFL video game series starting in 1988, which became the best-selling football game of all time. Madden passed away in December 2021 at the age of 85.
In addition to the Academy Award-winning duo of Nicolas Cage and Christian Bale as Madden and Davis, respectively, Madden is also set to star John Mulaney as Trip Hawkins, Kathryn Hahn as Virginia Madden, Sienna Miller as Carol Davis, Joel Murray as Pat Summerall, and comedian Shane Gillis in his feature film debut.
