Maja Stark made headlines less than one month ago for her performance at the US Women’s Open. The LPGA star won her first career major and second Tour event as a pro.
Fast forward to the end of June and she was again the center of attention at a major tournament. This time, that attention was largely negative during a stressful weekend at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship.
Stark tied for 47th place in the event, which took place at Fields Ranch East at PGA Frisco in Frisco, Texas. The Swede shot +12 on the weekend.
Maja Stark first joined the LPGA Tour in 2022. She’d gotten off to a strong start in the 2025 season. Through 11 tournaments, she’d made seven cuts highlighted by two Top 10 finishes and that US Women’s Open victory. Thus far she’d banked more than $2.5 million.

It just wasn’t her week in Frisco. While she was able to make the cut, she was never truly in contention to win. Her tumble down the leaderboard on Sunday was somewhat preventable, however.
Frustrated with her struggles late in the final round, Stark was seen snapping her putter in anger. It led to a comical scene on the greens. She was forced to putt with her wedge, which proved less than effective.

With that wedge in hand, Maja Stark left a 14-foot birdie putt on No. 16 short, leading to par. On No. 18, she three-putted while missing a par shot from four feet out.
Stark finished +6 on the day. She’ll look to bounce back for her next event with some more reliable equipment.
