Malik Mustapha was built in a lab. The 22-year-old rookie was just drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in April and might already be the strongest safety in the NFL.

He is jacked to the point that it’s frightening, in a good way!

Mustapha, a fourth-round pick, was an unranked recruit out of Weddington High School in Matthews, North Carolina — about 25 miles southeast of Charlotte. His offer sheet included FCS programs like Wofford, Chattanooga, Lafayette, Mercer and Elon. Even though Duke, Coastal Carolina, Georgia State and Wake Forest showed interest, Army was his only Power Five opportunity.

The zero-star prospect ultimately committed to Richmond and made a name for himself as a freshman. The Demon Deacons loved what they saw from Mustapha. They welcomed him to Winston-Salem as a true sophomore transfer in 2021.

Mustapha recorded 175 tackles, three interceptions and four sacks over 25 games with Wake Forest. He flies around like a banshee. He hits just as hard as any safety to come before him.

San Francisco selected Mustapha with the No. 124 overall pick in the fourth round of the NFL Draft. The roster lists the rookie at 5-foot-10, 206 pounds. It’s all muscle.

Malik Mustapha’s physique is freakish!

Recent photos captured by Jacob Bockhaus and Kenzie Hoffman put the National Football League on notice. No safety should be that big.

One particular photo (slide three of the below album) is drawing comparisons to D.K. Metcalf. Not because of their height/weight. Because they both lack any body fat.

The 49ers’ depth chart is loaded at the strong safety position. Mustapha will serve as the backup to Talanoa Hufanga, a First-Team All-Pro in 2022. However, the latter is coming off of a torn ACL so Kyle Shanahan and Nick Sorenson will have to work their well-built rookie into the lineup during the early season. Based only on his frame, Malik Mustapha is ready to go!
