Titans head coach Mike Vrabel decided to bench Marcus Mariota during the team’s matchup against the Broncos on Oct. 13 in favor of Ryan Tannehill and it’s been Tannehill’s team ever since.

The former second overall draft pick struggled mightily through the first six games of the season. While it’s surprising enough to see Tannehill take over the starting role, things got even more exciting during Tennessee’s practice on Thursday when Mariota was videoed taking reps at wide receiver.

While it’s a short clip showing just one rep, it’s worth noting that Jimy Wyatt, the man that posted the clip, is the Titans’ official beat reporter. For him to post the clip it must be somewhat meaningful.

It’s also worth noting that it rained pretty heavily during practice on Thursday so it could’ve been a lighthearted practice all-around, but then again the Titans are 4-5 and last in the AFC South so they can’t really afford a lighthearted practice.

Mariota did run a 4.52 at the 2015 NFL Combine and could probably do some stuff out wide, but I’m going to bet they were possibly implementing some sort of trick play. There’s also a chance the clip means close to nothing and Mariota slid over to wide out for a rep.

The Titans take on the Chiefs in Nashville Sunday afternoon at 1:00 PM EST. If you see the former Heisman Trophy winner line up out wide, don’t act too surprised.
