Top high school recruit Markee Anderson made his college commitment on Sunday afternoon in the best of ways.

Anderson is considered to be one of the top offensive linemen for the 2023 recruiting class. The South Carolina native made a decision on where he plans to spend the next three to four years, with that choice coming down to four final schools.

The hometown South Carolina Gamecocks and Clemson Tigers were both involved, as well as the LSU Tigers and North Carolina Tar Heels.

We’ve all seen hat reveals and t-shirt commitments, but Anderson got creative.

When folks arrived at the ceremony, they found four team-themed bottles of maple syrup sitting on the table. Behind them, Anderson sat with a plate full of pancakes.

It’s not surprising to see a food themed commitment from an offensive lineman, and the originality of the idea is top notch. Fans were quick to react to the pledge on social media.

Anderson opted to stay close to home, choosing the Gamecock themed syrup to drizzle over his short stack. The lineman is 83rd best player in the country according to the 24/7 recruiting rankings. The site has him listed as the second-best interior line prospect as well as the second-best player in the state of South Carolina.

Hopefully this creativity carries over into Anderson’s career at South Carolina. He should fit right in with the Gamecocks, who have been putting out some creative social media videos of their own.
