Ohio State Buckeyes wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. will be one of the first few selections in Thursday night’s first round of the 2024 NFL Draft. Fans of one lucky franchise are going to have a very shiny new offensive weapon at their disposal next year.

Those fans are surely going to want to buy a Marvin Harrison Jr. jersey tonight through official channels. But, unlike other draft picks they won’t be able to.

Why is that, you ask? Here’s what ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter has to say about it.

“Marvin Harrison Jr. has yet to sign a preliminary NFLPA licensing agreement that all draftees typically sign, which would allow his name and likeness to be monetized after he is picked tonight and before his NFL contract is signed, per sources. His jersey will not be available for purchase and he will not be featured in video games until his NFLPA group licensing deal is signed,” Schefter said on Twitter.
That’s a bummer, for sure. I’m not sure exactly why Marvin Harrison Jr. has not signed the requisite forms. But, it’s going to cost him some jersey sales, and in turn, some money.
Plus, as it stands right now, Marvin Harrison Jr. wouldn’t be included in the next edition of Madden. That stinks, as he’s one of the players I’m sure a lot of people are most looking forward to playing with.
Harrison could go as early as number 3, but I think his likely spot is 4th-overall to the Arizona Cardinals if they don’t trade their pick. It would be hard to see him going outside of the top six picks tonight. He’s considered one of the best wide receiver prospects of the last few decades. The two-time All-American has great bloodlines, too, as he’s the son of Pro Football Hall of Famer and Colts legend Marvin Harrison.
