Jim ‘Mattress Mack’ McIngvale is known for making astronomically large bets to essentially hedge against promotional giveaways at his stores, but his latest wager could be historic.

McIngvale has put down more than $3 million on his hometown Houston Astros to win the World Series this year. Earlier this week, ‘Mattress Mack‘ reportedly place a $2 million wager on Houston at 10-1 odds with Caesars Sportsbook by William Hill in Indiana. That bet alone would be the largest reported win in U.S. sports betting history, according to the sportsbook.

“This is a potentially historic bet, and it’s one that we love to take,” Caesars Entertainment co-president of sports Eric Hession said in a statement. “We pride ourselves on our flexible limits in our sportsbooks and sports betting apps. This wager certainly makes baseball season a little more exciting for us, and we’re looking forward to seeing how that plays out.”

He wasn’t done there, however. McIngvale also placed $1 million on the Astros at 10-1 with FanDuel in Indiana, $250,000 on DraftKings, and $100,000 with The Score sportsbook in Colorado, where the Astros’ odds were even bigger at 16-1.

All of these wagers coincide with a promotional giveaway at his store. Customers who spend $3,000 or more over the next few months will get all of their money back if Houston wins the World Series. McIngvale would win $35.6 million on his $3.35 million worth of bets if the ‘Stros pull off the win.

McIngvale lost over $11 million worth of bets on the Astros to win the World Series back in 2019 but did manage to win $2.7 million on last year’s Super Bowl as the Buccaneers took down the Chiefs.
