Chicago Bears head coach Matt Eberflus has emphatically denied the swirling rumors regarding the resignation of defensive coordinator Alan Williams.

These rumors had suggested that Williams’ departure was related to something more serious than family and health reasons.

Eberflus, seeking to quell the speculation surrounding Williams, reassured his players that the rumors were baseless.

In an interview with NFL Insider Ian Raoport, Eberflus stated, “When the news came out and all those crazy things were being said, I felt we needed to clarify.”

The Bears’ head coach opted to address the matter privately with the team, firmly stating, “I said, hey all those rumors and stuff going on right now, that crazy stuff, none of that is true. Alan is resigning,”

Eberflus added: ‘We’ll be keeping all the same responsibilities on defense, and I’ll be calling the plays on game day. Any questions?’ It was better that way, with fewer people in the room. It took me more time, but that’s the way I wanted to do it.”

While Eberflus did not specify the nature of the “crazy stuff” he was refuting, ESPN’s Pat McAfee had previously reported that the FBI had raided Williams’ house.

The Bears have denied any law enforcement raids at the team facility in connection to Williams, but they did not comment on the alleged incident at Williams’ residence.

Until there is official confirmation regarding the truth behind the rumors, Eberflus is likely to face ongoing inquiries into the situation.
