Dallas finds itself in the undesirable predicament of having to overcome a 3-0 series deficit in the NBA playoffs.

It’s a position that no other team in league history has been able to succeed in. There have been 146 series to go to a 3-0 advantage, and in those 146 instances, the leading team is a perfect 146-0.

Just 14 times have we seen the series get to a game six, and only three times has the trailing team won three straight matchups to force a decisive game seven.

The Mavericks are hoping to beat the odds in their current matchup against the Golden State Warriors.

Dallas fell behind with three consecutive losses to start their Western Conference series with Golden State. They won Game 4 to get it to 3-1 but will now have to travel to California for Game 5.

There appears to be one fan that still has faith in Dallas, though, and they’re willing to lay their money down on the Mavericks completing the comeback.

Mavericks bet will pay $1.5 million if Dallas wins the series

Just before the start of Game 4 on Tuesday night, one ambitious bettor dropped $50,000 on the Mavericks to win the Western Conference. That would mean they’ll have to overcome their current deficit to represent the conference in the NBA Championship.

This is an improbable task for the Mavericks, and the odds show it. The wager comes in at +3000 or 30/1. To put that in perspective, the odds for the Miami/Boston series sit at -190 for the Celtics and +160 for the Heat. That series is currently tied 2-2.

As we said, it’s never been done.

But with risk comes reward. That $50,000 would turn into an insane $1.5 million if Dallas pulls off the impossible. The Mavericks got off to the right start with a 119-109 victory in Game 4. They need three more wins to make the dream a reality for this bettor.
