TCU Quarterback Max Duggan is one of the great feel-good stories of college football this year. The signal-caller went from relative obscurity to leading TCU to a playoff berth. Duggan will be in New York on Saturday for the Heisman ceremony, too.

He deserved the invite. The Horned Frog threw for 3321 yards and 30 touchdowns and 4 interceptions. He added 404 yards on the ground and 6 touchdowns as he willed TCU to victory after victory before they lost to Kansas State in the Big 12 title game.

Look at these sensational plays he made down the stretch in that game.

And now, he’s been awarded.

Max Duggan was told by his mom that he won the Davey O’Brien Award

Davey O’Brien was a legendary quarterback at TCU back in the 1930s. And, starting in 1980, an award to be given to the best quarterback in college football was named in his honor. Since the award’s beginning, no TCU player had won the award.

Until now. And, Max Duggan was told by him mom in a very neat way.

What a great way to find out you won such a big award. He joins legends like Peyton Manning, Troy Aikman, and Steve Young as winners of the award.

And, it’s deserved.

He will lead the Horned Frogs into battle against Michigan in the College Football Playoff in the Fiesta Bowl on Dec 31st.
