Mel Kiper Jr. is, arguably, the most prolific NFL Draft analyst on the planet. I mean, really, the dude basically created a job that had never existed decades ago, putting together some football knowledge with an appetite for draft coverage and scouting, and then just guessing which prospects would be selected in certain slots. It was actually genius, with Kiper Jr. starting the gig all the way back in 1984.
Still going strong on ESPN and giving his NFL Draft analysis, Mel Kiper Jr. might not get many of his mock draft predictions right every year, but he does have an impressive streak that’s definitely worth a big shout-out. That’s because, according to Paul Pabst of The Dan Patrick Show, Kiper Jr. admitted that he’s never, ever taken a bathroom break during the first round while covering the NFL Draft on TV.
Mel Kiper told us he has never taken a bathroom break…ever…during the first round while on TV during round one of the draft.

Guys, that might not sound like a big deal to some of you, but the dude probably has to down coffee, water, energy drinks and a slew of other substances to keep his energy level high and brain functioning normally while talking about the 32 players selected during a first round. When you combine that with the fact that the NFL Draft’s first-round typically lasts about four hours, Mel Kiper Jr.’s strong bladder and prostate are legendary. Kudos to the dude for holding strong for decades now.
In addition to revealing his NFL Draft bathroom routine, Mel Kiper Jr. also talked about a number of different things on The Dan Patrick Show this morning, even adding that he’d be a weatherman had he not pursued a career in sports media.
Mel Kiper told us that if he didn't get into sports media, he probably would have become a weather broadcaster. The hair would have crushed in that role.

Of course, Kiper Jr. did actually talk about football, too, and gave an interesting take on how the NFL has evolved over the years. Specifically talking about potential No. 1 overall pick Kyler Murray, Mel Kiper Jr. went bold, saying that, just a decade ago, the reigning Heisman Trophy winner would’ve been a slot receiver and probably wouldn’t have been evaluated as a quarterback prospect.
"Ten years ago, Kyler Murray would have been a slot receiver or a fourth-round draft pick." – Mel Kiper Jr. on @dpshow

Whether Mel Kiper Jr.’s giving his thoughts on the NFL Draft or talking about his all-time badass bathroom routine, the guy is a pretty hilarious interview. So take a look at the entire interview with the draft on today’s The Dan Patrick Show guru below.
