Miami-Dade County Is Being Paid Nearly $1 Million For GTA 6 ‘Welcome To Vice City’ Sign At Miami Heat Arena

Miami-Dade County has officially entered into a business agreement with Rockstar Games.

On a Friday, Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava signed a deal allowing Rockstar Games to put a “Welcome to Vice City” sign at the Kaseya Center.

Cava signed the deal under her authority to enter into contracts under $1 million without board approval, which angered some on the Miami-Dade County board.

Commissioner Oliver Gilbert III raised concerns over the mayor’s office’s apparent intent to conduct multiple agreements under $1 million with Rockstar.

“ I do not agree that you can do $900,000 for this, and $700,000 for this, and $400,000 for this, and because you did different agreements, then you don’t have to come before the board.” Gilbert said. “You could just go back to the same vendor for spending authority limitations, and you could just do smaller purchases every time. That wouldn’t make sense.”

According to Miami Herald reporter Doug Hanks, Rockstar Games is paying Miami-Dade County $975k for the sign.

On Tuesday afternoon, helicopters were seen putting up the sign at the Kaseya Center.
