On Thursday night, the NHL firmed up the teams that will be competing in the All-Star Game with the help of the celebrity captains who were tasked with picking the rosters. That included Michael Bublé, who accidentally helped himself to too many magic mushrooms before the event got underway.

Most people know Michael Bublé for the music that made him famous, and the fact that he rose to stardom by positioning himself as an old-school crooner makes it easy to assume he’s a fairly straight-laced and old-fashioned dude.

However, that is decidedly not the case.

In 2010, Bublé’s ex-girlfriend tore into him for constantly smoking weed while citing that habit as one of the reasons they broke up, and while he made a conscious effort to clean up his act a bit in the years that followed, the man who launched his own line of whiskey in 2023 would be the first person to admit he’s not shy about turning to mind-altering substances to unwind.

The Vancouver native is also a diehard hockey fan (he postponed a concert so he could watch the Canucks lose to the Bruins in person in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals in 2011), so it was only natural that the NHL tapped him (along with Justin Bieber, Will Arnett, and Tate McRae) to be one of the celebrity captains who drafted the two teams that will face off in the All-Star Game at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto on Saturday.

Bublé seemed to enjoy himself, and during a press conference, we got some insight into why that was the case when he admitted he’d accidentally taken too many shrooms before heading out onto the ice.

Here’s what he had to say:

“My buddy told me this is just a microdose of mushrooms and he was lying

I’ll be honest, I thought I was in Blades of Glory for most of the time that I was out there until it sort of settled down and I realized, ‘Holy s—,  I’m at the NHL All-Star Game.”

Bublé seems like he’d be a very fun hang.
