Michigan Wolverine fans received good news this offseason when the school got on board with the rest of college football regarding its stance on serving beer in the Big House.

UM is now one of 16 Big Ten programs providing alcohol to paying customers at sporting events, with Wisconsin also joining the charge this summer.

More from MGoBlue.com on that decision:

The University of Michigan Athletics Department will implement alcohol sales at Michigan Stadium beginning with the 2024 football season after carefully reviewing previous alcohol sale rollouts and fan experiences at Yost Ice Arena and Crisler Center.

The Board of Regents voted May 16 to implement a Class C liquor license at the “Big House,” starting Aug. 31 with a home football game against Fresno State.

With the wait is over, a number of Michigan fans rejoiced. Unfortunately, that feeling was short-lived!

As the season opener creeps closer, insights into how much those beverages will cost are coming to light. Attendees should get ready to open up their wallets!

Michigan is reportedly charging more than $12 for a domestic beer.

Alcohol at Michigan Stadium will start at $12.25 for a 16 ounce domestic beer, I’m told. They’ll have 5 local craft beers + other macro options. Alcohol sales will start 1 hour before kickoff and end at the start of the fourth quarter.

The craft beers could be even pricier!

According to a study done by Oddspedia, that will put Michigan near the top of college football in terms of most expensive beer. Tennessee’s Neyland Stadium took that title in that previously mentioned research at $13 a pop.

We’ve seen program flex their cheaper beer prices this offseason, but judging by immediate fan reaction, we don’t expect Michigan to be marketing their costs publicly.

“Pass. I’ll still bring my water bottle filled with vodka.”

“Gracious, I’ll start saving now.”

“Terrible price gouging. I love U of M, but that is absurd.”

“What a rip-off.”

Save up. Football is less than three weeks away!
