Two baseball cards featuring New York Yankees legend Mickey Mantle recently sold for a total of $10,250 on the online trading card marketplace CollX, showing that there is still a very strong market for items featuring the Hall of Famer.

The first card, a 1953 Topps Mickey Mantle, sold for $8,250 on CollX, while a 1965 Topps Mantle card sold for $2,000.

“Nearly 75 years later, The Mick is still one of the most sought-after names in the hobby,” CollX wrote on Instagram.

Mickey Mantle Baseball Card From 1953 Sells For $8,250

The more valuable of the two cards was a 1953 Topps #82 Mickey Mantle, rated PSA 4 (Very Good-Excellent). The card shows a painted picture of Mantle in his New York Yankees uniform batting right-handed.

Even though it scored a 4 on PSA’s 10-point scale, the card still sold for $8,250. Not bad for a piece of cardboard that’s nearly 75 years old.

Mantle was just 21 when the card came out, after a season when he hit .311 with 23 home runs and 87 RBI. The switch-hitter went on to win seven World Series championships, three American League MVP awards, and the 1956 Triple Crown.

Another Vintage Mickey Mantle Card Sells For $2,000

The second card, a 1965 Topps #350 Mickey Mantle showing him swinging a bat in his Yankees pinstripes, sold for $2,000 despite having a better PSA rating of 6. It is certainly interesting that the higher-graded 1965 card sold for far less than the 1953 card, showing how age, rarity and demand can change a card’s value.

“Cards from the Yankees legend’s final years are still in high demand with collectors,” CollX wrote on Instagram.

By 1965, Mickey Mantle was nearing the end of his career, but he was still one of baseball’s top stars. He finished his career after the 1968 season with 536 home runs and 1,509 RBI.

Two other cards recently sold for tens of thousands of dollars

Mantle cards aren’t the only special cards that recently changed hands on CollX. A unique 2025 Topps Chrome Update Rookie Debut Patch Autograph card with Miami Marlins player Javier Sanoja also sold for $20,000. The card has Sanoja’s signature and an MLB Debut patch for his September 7, 2024 debut.

Meanwhile, as we previously reported, a rare 2008-09 Topps Kobe Bryant card numbered to 51 recently sold for $65,000 on CollX, breaking a previous sales mark on the online trading card marketplace.

Sales of Mantle, Sanoja, and Bryant cards show that collectors are willing to spend a lot of money on certain sports cards. Even when some of those cards are older than their buyers.
