One of the most heartwarming stories coming out of the NBA draft was Mikal Bridges getting drafted by the Sixers, the team for whom his mother Tyneeha Rivers works for.
Tyneeha is the vice president of human resoruces for Harris Blitzer Sports and Entertainment, a company that handles the hiring for the Philadelphia Sixers. Tyneeha was able to raise Mikal as a single mother, balancing college classes with raising a son. It looked like we were headed for a Hallmark moment after Bridges was drafted by his hometown Sixers at No. 10, and where his mother works.
Tyneeha even talked about how excited she was to be able to see her son play for the franchise she works for during his post-draft interview.
Unfortunately, Bridges was traded to the Suns about 20 minutes after his interview with ESPN.
Suns are acquiring Mikal Bridges in a deal that will send Smith to Sixers, league source tells ESPN. Suns will send 2021 first-round pick via Miami in deal too.
Of course the Internet reacted hilariously to the Sixers cold-blooded move.
