Not many athletes in the world have benefited from social media like former hockey goalie Mikayla Demaiter. The former net minder has turned her good looks into 2.3 million followers on Instagram, almost certainly the most of any women’s hockey player. And, she also has nearly 2 million followers on TikTok, too. She’s clearly made it big.
Though, I guess she’s technically still not a women’s hockey player, as she retired back in 2019, and posted this message at the time.
Dear Hockey,
It is time to say goodbye. It is time to turn the page and move to the next chapter of my life, for the first time you will not be my number one focus.
I want to thank you for the places we’ve gone together. I also want to thank you for all the friends you have made me. My family sends their best as well. I know they will definitely miss seeing us together.
I am excited for the future because everything you have taught me will allow me to succeed. There will still be early mornings, new adventures and new friends, and I hope that I embrace them with the same love and passion I did for you.
Thanks again for everything.
And, another one of her social media posts have gone viral, this time with a pretty clever caption.
“do ensure you allow your phone adequate time to cool after viewing these photos” is a very clever caption. It may have been a social media consultant that wrote the caption on Mikayla Demaiter’s Instagram page. But, it’s funny nonetheless.
