Miami Dolphins tight end Mike Gesicki has become infamous for his awful “griddy” celebration following touchdown catches. He was mocked by NFL viewers after pulling out the move in his team’s come-from-behind victory over Baltimore earlier this season.
Now, he’s catching more flak.
On Sunday, Gesicki scored on his second and third touchdown receptions of the year. The pass catcher hauled in a season-high six passes totaling 69 yards.
After crossing the goal line for TD No. 1, Gesicki reenacted his celebration much to the dismay of fans nationwide. Robert Griffin III immediately trolled the tight end saying, “Somebody STOP THIS MAN and his unseasoned griddy!” That tweet set into motion a hilarious thread.

Mike Gesicki agreed to retire that ‘unseasoned griddy’ after being called out by Ja’Marr Chase.
Chase commented on that post from RGIII, saying, “I ain’t going lie. This ain’t it!”
If you remember, Chase was part of that star studded LSU team with Justin Jefferson where the celebration really began to gain popularity. You can still find both pass catchers popping their renditions of the griddy on Sundays after hauling in touchdown receptions.
Both perform the dance much better than Gesicki.
After being called out by Chase, Gesicki heeded the advice. He posted the following reply to Chase’s comment on Twitter.
I promise I’m done. I’ll leave it up to the professionals for sure. Only around the house from here on out.
The griddy celebration wasn’t the only L that Gesicki took on Sunday. His Dolphins fell 24-16 to the Vikings to drop their third game in a row.
Miami will look to bounce back next weekend vs. the Steelers.
