Whatever Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy said to team owner Jerry Jones during their meeting earlier this week, it worked, as the embattled coach is set to return for the 2024 season.

Despite boasting a 1-3 playoff record with a team that, rightly or wrongly, has had Super Bowl expectations in recent years, McCarthy is getting another crack at leading Dallas to its first NFC Championship game since 1995.

As for why fans of the iconic franchise should continue to believe in the pair, McCarthy’s reasoning was a little desperate, to say the least.

“I came to Dallas to win a world championship and that’s why I’m standing here,” McCarthy said. “Buy into us.”

McCarthy’s contract is set to expire at the end of the 2024 season, meaning this. year will truly be a make-or-break one for him and his staff.

While questions will also circle Prescott until he proves otherwise, especially since the Cowboys can get out of his contract at the end of next season, too.

The former Green Bay Packers head coach has certainly brought regular-season success to the franchise, as he’s won 12 games in each of the last three seasons and has won the NFC East twice during that time.
