Nottingham Forrest star midfielder and England international Morgan Gibbs-White suffered one of the most gruesome facial injuries you’ll ever see in Forrest’s Premier League match against Chelsea on Monday.
During Forrest’s 3-1 win Premier League at Stamford Bridge in London on Monday, Morgan Gibbs-White and Chelsea keeper Robert Sanchez banged their heads together midway through the second half that resulted in both players requiring extensive facial stitches, Gibbs-White in particular.
Both players had to be subbed off as a result of the injuries, with Chris Wood coming on for Gibbs-White and back-up goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen taking over for Sanchez.
Nottingham Forrest’s Morgan Gibbs-White suffered such a brutal facial injury against Chelsea that his skull was exposed
Gibbs-White’s injury was so deep, in fact, that the white of his skull could be seen after the moment of impact.
Editor’s Note: the facial injury that Gibbs-White suffered is quite gruesome and not for the weak-of-stomach, so viewer discretion is advised.

After the match, Gibbs-White shared a good-humored selfie on Instagram showing off his battle scar.

Chelsea keeper Robert Sanchez was also injured in the collision and required stitches of his own.
“Seen that you came out worst than me, hope you are ok big man @morgangibbswhite,” Sanchez wrote on Instagram.

Forrest’s win over Chelsea solidified their position in 16th on the Premier League table, all but assuring they avoid relegation. Chelsea, meanwhile, lost their sixth straight Premier League match and have dropped down to 9th in the table.
With Gibbs-White being Forrest’s key player, Nottingham fans will be hoping he’s all healed up by Thursday when the club take on Aston Villa in the second-league of the Europa League semifinals, which is currently tied 1-1 on aggregate.
