The Indiana Fever were eliminated from the WNBA Playoffs on Wednesday by the Connecticut Sun. An 87-81 defeat effectively ended their season.

After the loss, forward NaLyssa Smith called out her own fanbase for spewing hate towards girlfriend DiJonai Carrington. She’s had enough!

Smith claims that Carrington has been receiving death threats throughout the postseason. Now that the season’s over, she’s able to speak “freely” on the situation without landing criticism.

anyways now that i can respond freely, my girlfriend has been getting death threats, followed, called all type of s—.

so if sending her flowers to make sure her mental health is okay then coo cry about it.

Smith and Carrington faced off in the first round of WNBA Playoff action, presenting an awkward dynamic for each side. Partners off the court, and rivals on!

You can see why she’d wait until after the series ended to clear the air.

DiJonai Carrington’s history with NaLyssa Smith’s Indiana team is well-documented.

Earlier this month, the Connecticut Sun guard called Fever fans the “nastiest in the W.” Smith implied that they lived up to the name!

Carrington’s budding rivalry with superstar Caitlin Clark put a target on her back.

Throughout the year, she’s mocked Clark for her egregious flopping while criticizing the hypocrisy surrounding her trash talk.

When Clark goes off, she’s being passionate. When Carrington talks smack, she’s disrespecting the game! (Or so she says).

The rivalry saw its biggest headline in the playoffs, however, when Carrington accidentally poked Clark in the eye while playing defense. Again, Fever fans turned against the Connecticut star.

Now that the season’s ended, NaLyssa Smith no longer has to stay silent on what she’s seen behind closed doors. And, hey, if DiJonai Carrington gets her way, her girlfriend won’t be tied to Indiana much longer.

Hopefully, some of the online hate simmers as Carrington gears up for the second round of the postseason.
