SoFi Stadium made headlines last week with its ‘no tailgating’ policy ahead of the national championship game. Now, college football fans are even more furious with the venue after seeing its ridiculously priced beer selection.

The high prices have been posted to social media, going viral just hours before kickoff. They’ve caused quite a reaction online.

Now, fans generally expect to pay a bit more for food and beverages at an entertainment venue. Whether that be for a football game, concert, or show, prices at the concessions are going to be higher than what you see at the grocery store.

But after being told they weren’t allowed to get liquored up during the pregame, national championship attendees aren’t happy about being gouged once inside the stadium.

College football writer Pete Thamel posted a picture from inside the venue, showing the asking price for select beers and alcoholic beverages. The “premium” options, as SoFi puts it, are Modelo and Pacifico. The charge? $17 for a draft beer.

That $17 price is good for the wine options, too.

While those aren’t the worst of choices, not many attendees are going to be happy about paying nearly $20 for a single draft when they can get a 12-pack for less back at home.

As you can imagine, it didn’t sit well with fans.

One person wrote, “Listing Modelo as “premium” AND demanding $17 is criminal.” Another said, “Remember, no tailgating! Buy our $17 beer.”

SoFi is taking a lot of L’s of late as it prepares to host its first national championship. Hopefully the game itself will help us all forget about the issues seen in the leadup.

Georgia will be looking to defend its crown as college football champion while TCU looks to play spoiler. Both teams notched exciting wins in the semifinals over Big Ten teams to get to this point.
