As the NBA‘s commissioner, Adam Silver is currently one of the most powerful men in the sports world.

Now it looks like there could be interest in him becoming the head of a company that’s pretty powerful in a very different market.

According to FOX Business Network’s Charles Gasparino, Silver’s name is on an unofficial short list to replace Bob Iger as the CEO of Disney when Iger’s time back in charge comes to an end.

Adam Silver has only been the NBA’s commissioner since 2014 after spending 8 years as the league’s deputy commissioner and chief operating officer.

He hasn’t given any indication that he has any plans to leave the NBA any time soon.

However, he could be an interesting option for Disney if he were interested in a new challenge.

The company brought Bob Iger back amid concerns about the company with Bob Chapek in charge, but his return is only temporary as he has only agreed to retake his old position for 2 years.

One of the biggest concerns for Disney right now is Disney+ falling short of expectations. One thing that could change that would be finding a way to break into the Chinese market.

Silver’s experience working in the NBA as the league’s popularity exploded in China could give him some insight on how to get Disney into the market.

He would also make a lot of sense to head a company that is pretty heavily invested in the sports world because of their ownership of ESPN.

It doesn’t sound like this is anywhere close to becoming a reality, but Adam Silver is certainly an interesting name to watch as Disney figures out what their future holds.
