The Eric Lewis saga has officially come to an end after the long-time NBA referee announced his retirement amid the league’s investigation on him.

Lewis allegedly used a burner account to defend himself and other referees on X, formerly known as Twitter.

The league launched its investigation on Lewis back right before the start of the 2023 NBA Finals at the beginning of June. The investigation was looking to see if Lewis was posting about officiating in an unauthorized manner.

According to Chris Haynes, the NBA has decided to end its investigation entirely now that Eric Lewis has retired.

Lewis was accused of using a now-deleted burner account called Blair Cuttliff. The account defended Eric Lewis and other referees around the league. Sometimes the responses were a bit defensive.

Back in late May, NBA fans accused Eric Lewis of being the person behind the burner account.

Here’s an old clip of Eric Lewis’ alleged burner account.

With that said, this whole saga is now history. The NBA clearly didn’t see any reason to continue the investigation, as the person in question removed himself from the league.

Now, everybody possibly involved can move on with their lives.

The 2023-24 NBA season is set to begin in late October.
