Nebraska Cornhuskers outside hitter Harper Murray isn’t just one of the biggest names in college volleyball, but in all of college sports. So not only do fans pay attention to what she’s doing on the court, but off the court as well.
Murray, a first-team All-American, is also a social media star with over 830,000 followers on TikTok and nearly 350,000 on Instagram.
So when a picture of her with Purdue basketball player Fletcher Loyer hit the internet, people began to ask questions.
“Are they together?” “How long have they been dating?” “When did she stop dating former Nebraska quarterback Heinrich Haarberg?”
Well, as it turns out, none of those are relevant questions.

It didn’t take long for Murray to see the rumors about her and Loyer. And it also didn’t take long for her to shoot them down in the most emphatic way possible.

“Been friends since we were 12 lol,” Murray posted on X in response to the picture of the pair.
Listen, there’s absolutely no problem with Murray clarifying her relationship status, especially in regards to Loyer. But man, she didn’t have to make Loyer look like a complete bozo on social media in the process.
But hey, when you’re constantly dealing with weird male fans, I’d also want to make sure things about your personal life are as clearly communicated to the world as possible.
