Allison Weidner is one of the strongest players in women’s college basketball, both figuratively and literally. She worked extremely hard to prepare for her sixth year at Nebraska and it appears as though all of her hard work went straight to her arms.
They are JACKED!
There may not be a more inspiring player in women’s college basketball this season and if her muscles are any indication, it could be a breakout year. Lets just hope she can stay healthy!
Allison Weidner is a warrior.
Born and raised in Humphrey, Nebraska, Allison Weidner played high school basketball at Saint Francis. She was rated as a four-star prospect and ranked as the No. 80 player overall in the recruiting Class of 2021. The 5-foot-9 guard decided to stay home!
It did not take long for Weidner to make her mark as one of two freshman starters down the stretch for the Cornhuskers in 2021-22. She averaged 7.2 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.2 assists in 33 games and helped to lead Nebraska to the NCAA Tournament.
Weidner was just as important to the lineup as a sophomore and began the 2022-23 season as a starter. And then she suffered a season-ending knee injury at the end of December.
It was the first of three brutal setbacks…
Weidner worked her way back from a left knee injury and was on track to play for the Cornhuskers in 2023-24 until she suffered a right knee injury during practice in early October. The injury required season-ending surgery before the first game.
Something similar happened in 2024-25. Weidner made her return to Nebraska’s starting lineup at the beginning of the season and played every game in November and December. Unfortunately, she suffered another season-ending right knee injury in January. The grueling rehabilitation process also forced her to miss the entire 2025-26 season.
Now, after missing the overwhelming majority of four-straight seasons with three separate knee injuries, Allison Weidner is back as a sixth-year graduate student in 2026-27. Even if she does not crack the starting lineup, her presence on the court as a leader cannot be understated.
Nebraska women’s basketball’s strength training program is legit!
Allison Weidner has not played a regular season game since early January of 2025. It has been approximately 21 months.
As you could imagine, she spent a lot of that time in the weight room. And it shows!
Nebraska recently posted a photo on social media that makes her look like the Hulk— in a good way. Weidner’s arms are jacked.
The last few years have not been easy. Three-straight knee injuries cast doubt on whether Weidner would ever be able to get back on the hardwood. She worked extremely hard to get back healthy and will get to finish what she started. Based on the definition of her arms, we might be in store for her best season yet!
