Although this kind of arrangement is not unusual for the NFL, it comes with interesting timing. There has been a lot of concern about the amount of injuries that take place in Santa Clara.
An electromagnetic substation might have an impact on the San Francisco 49ers’ injuries.

His belief is that the incongruent amount of injuries stems from an electrical substation located next to the team’s practice facility. It emits “low-frequency electromagnetic fields,” which can “degrade collagen, weaken tendons, and cause soft-tissue damage at levels regulators call ‘safe.'”
Cowan wrote multiple dissertations about his findings. His most viral post has been viewed more than 20 million times on social media.
There are plenty of people who disagree with Peter Cowan’s connection between injuries to the 49ers and the electrical substation next to the practice field. However, former offensive guard Jon Feliciano said back in October that it is a link players have already made (mostly in jest) for years.

As this electromagnetic substation continues to create discussion surrounding the San Francisco 49ers’ recent injury history, the Seahawks and Patriots both chose not to practice for the Super Bowl at their team facility. Seattle is the designated home team. New England is the designated away team.
The Seahawks elected first to practice at Stanford University instead of the 49ers’ facility. The Patriots also chose to pass on the 49ers’ facility. They are instead going to practice at San Jose State.
Now — before we go any further — it must be noted that the Broncos and the Panthers also chose to practice at Stanford and San Jose State back in 2016 for Super Bowl 50. That was almost a full decade before the injury theory went viral in the mainstream.
Although it is far more common for one team to practice at the host team’s facility and the other team to practice at a college facility, it is not that uncommon for both NFL teams to practice at an off-site facility prior to the Super Bowl. This latest practice setup is not only because of the substation.
With that being said, there is no way that Seattle and New England did not at least consider the substation theory when they picked where to practice. Even if it was not the primary factor in their decisions to practice at Stanford and San Jose State, it had to have crossed their minds!
