NFL Fans Think The Refs Came To The Chiefs’ Rescue In A Crucial Moment Once Again

The Kansas City Chiefs improved to 5-1 last night with a win over the lowly Denver Broncos on Thursday Night Football.

The game had all of the usual notes we’ve come to expect this season: Patrick Mahomes looks a little off, Taylor Swift was in attendance, and the refs made some calls that seemed to go in the Chiefs’ favor.

Similar to their win over the Minnesota Vikings last week and the New York Jets a few weeks ago — which was aided by a holding call on Jets corner Sauce Gardner on a crucial third and long — some NFL fans think that the Chiefs were, once again, bailed out by the officials on Thursday night.

Despite the conspiracy theories from some fans, the Chiefs actually had more penalties (7 for 84 yards) than the Broncos did (3 for 34 yards) on the night. They also didn’t need all that much help from the refs to beat the Broncos, who scored just eight points.

Regardless of the low-scoring nature of the game — Broncos signal-caller Russell Wilson passed for just 95 yards — Travis Kelce was still able to show out in front of Swift as he posted nine catches for 124 yards.

The loss to the Chiefs put the Broncos record at 1-5, all but ending their season, the team’s first under head coach Sean Payton. According to reports, the team is prepared to have a firesale and ship out players, such as Jerry Jeudy, before the trade deadline.

The Chiefs will now be off until Sunday, October 22, when they’ll take on the Los Angeles Chargers. As for the Broncos, they’ll be hosting the Green Bay Packers for their Week 7 matchup.
