One of the beautiful aspects of the WSOP Main Event is how it brings together people from all walks of life.
The $10,000 buy-in WSOP Main Event sees professional card sharks battling celebrities, regular folk who won their entry in a raffle, CEOs, and wealthy individuals with fascinating backgrounds like 3-time Super Bowl champion Richard Seymour.
Seymour is making a deep run at the 2023 Main Event. Though there’s been some discussion on social media in the past 24 hours on what constitutes a ‘deep run’ in the Main Event, I think the NFL Hall of Famer and New England Patriots legend outlasting over 9,500 players constitutes ‘deep’.
There are currently 441 players left in the 2023 World Series of Poker Main Event. Richard Seymour sits in 325th with a chip stack of 650,000 after losing 480,000 in chips toward the end of play. But this moment helped him double up when his chip stack stood at 447K.

The way he played this hand created a lot of chatter in the poker world. PokerGo‘s announcers had a lot to say about the table talk but personally, I see nothing wrong at all with the play. Phil Hellmuth, winner of 17 WSOP bracelets, agrees:
Guys, @BigSey93 did nothing wrong. In @WSOP Main Event, 50 BB’s is like 100 BB’s in any other tourney. And, actually, I respect the fact that he took a moment in this spot. This is not a “nit roll!” https://t.co/OeNnHqIARA

For context, ‘nitty’ in poker refers to a player who plays extremely tight.
Some people believe that Richard Seymour saying ‘you got it’ when he was holding KK was a ‘nitty’ play but not everyone agrees. The comments on that PokerGo tweet seem to reflect that. One person wrote “Not a nit-roll. It might be in any other tournament but not Day 4 of the Main.”
Richard Seymour also bounced two people from the WSOP Main Event in one hand:

With 441 players left, those who bust out on the start of Day 5 will be paid out $37,500. Here is a full breakdown of the 2023 WSOP Main Event prize pool.
Nicholas ‘Dirty Diaper‘ Rigby is running hot. He is 12th in chips with a stack of 3,655,000. Rigby popularized the ‘Dirty Diaper’ hand and went viral in November 2021 with this hand:
Day 5 of the WSOP Main Event resumes at noon in Las Vegas.
