The Kansas City Chiefs are 6-0, and have won twelve straight games dating back to last season. But, a skill position group that was reloaded in the offseason has fallen apart due to injuries.
They may need to make a move before the November 5 trade deadline if they want to win a third-straight Super Bowl. One name being floated by a prominent NFL Insider is Los Angeles Rams star Cooper Kupp.
Kupp, a former All-Pro, has battled injuries in recent year and missed weeks 3-7 with an ankle injury. But, when he plays, he’s mighty productive. In his only healthy game this year, he had 14 catches for 110 yards and a touchdown against the Lions in Week 1. He’s an ultra-smooth route runner that is adept at finding the soft spots in defenses. In some ways, he’s the wide receiver version of Travis Kelce.
The Chiefs have been without free agent acquisiton Hollywood Brown since before the start of the season, and he may not be back at all. The team’s number-one wideout, Rashee Rice, is likely out for the season due to a knee injury. That leaves a thin group led by rookie speedster Xavier Worthy, oft-injured veteran JuJu Smith-Schuster, Mecole Hardman, and Justin Watson. Travis Kelce and a good group of tight ends help, but top running back Isaiah Pacheco is hurt also. Something needs to be done.
Could Kupp and the Chiefs be a match? The Athletic’s Dianna Russini thinks so.
Could the Chiefs trade for Cooper Kupp?
"If the Rams are willing to take on the salary I've heard they're willing to do, they are definitely open to trading Cooper Kupp so we'll see if they'll be able to get a deal done." @DMRussini on the upcoming trade deadline.

Russini notes that even if the Rams take on some of the money, there still could be cap concerns for the Chiefs. But, Kansas City has to get something done It’s hard to see them winning another Super Bowl with a poor wide receiver group.
