According to reports, the National Hockey League is set to announce the resumption of their 2019-20 season through an official statement from league Commissioner Gary Bettman. The NHL, along with essentially every other major sports league in the world, suspended play back in early March due to our current global situation.

The news that the NHL is set to announce their return to play comes on the heels of major states such as New York, New Jersey, and California recently allowing professional sports teams to return to practice.
The NHL isn’t the only league on the verge of a return, as basketball Hall of Famer and Inside The NBA analyst Charles Barkley stated that he’s “100% sure” that the NBA season will also resume their season.
“We’re gonna make a decision in the next week,” Barkley said. “I’m 100% sure we’re going to play. I know my friends in Major League Baseball are going to play. I think that the hockey league is going to play.
“I think the pro football and the college football, they have to sit back and see how it goes for us. I do know this, talking to my bosses at Turner. We’re going to play basketball. It’s gonna be in Florida and (Las) Vegas, or just Florida.”
That trend is continuing overseas, as Germany’s Bundesliga resumed play earlier this month, with their third round of game being played this week. Furthermore, England’s Premier League, Spain’s La Liga, and Italy Serie A are all set to resume their seasons in mid-to-late June.
Thus far, the only major global sports league that is currently playing games is the German Bundesliga, which — knock on wood — has run relatively smoothly in its first three weeks of resumption.
