While AJ Brown may no longer be a member of the Philadelphia Eagles, the cold war between the sides carries on. Head coach Nick Sirianni took a not-so-subtle shot at the wide receiver during a recent press conference.

Yesterday, we reported that, on his final day at the Philadelphia Eagles, AJ Brown signed a photo of himself and wrote: “The best to ever play here. Always open.”

Brown’s gloating is in line with the consensus of Eagles fans that the pass catcher is more concerned with personal success than that of the team’s, which contributed to him seeking a trade away from the team. Sirianni certainly seems to agree based on what he said to the media on Tuesday.

“We have a shared mission. If you want to do it alone, pick a different sport,” Sirianni said.

After dealing with Brown’s increasingly disruptive attitude for a few seasons now, it’s likely that Sirianni is glad to be rid of the apparently malignant locker room presence. Sirianni may not be alone in that regard, either, as it’s become clear that Brown and QB Jalen Hurts had a deteriorating relationship in recent years, too.

“[We’re] not as close as we once were. That’s fine, there’s no bad blood. There’s actually still a lot of love, I love him. I want him to succeed and accomplish all of the things he wants to accomplish,” Brown said in an interview with Maria Taylor.

“I didn’t truly understand why our friendship became the center of everyone’s attention when it came to football because, looking back on it, we haven’t been as close as we were a couple of years now. But that didn’t stop anything. We still competed, we still pushed each other, we still led the team.”

The Eagles traded Brown to the New England Patriots on June 1. In return, the Birds received New England’s 2028 first-round pick and a 2027 fifth-rounder. Brown and the Eagles will cross paths again later this summer when Philadelphia and New England face-off in their second preseason game on August 22.

In four seasons with the Eagles, Brown has had 339 catches for 5,034 yards and 32 touchdowns in 62 games, and helped the team win the Super Bowl during the 2024 season.
