Nuggets Fans Ruthlessly Trolled Timberwolves Center Rudy Gobert During Blowout Game 1 Win

To say Rudy Gobert‘s first season with the Minnesota Timberwolves has not gone according to plan would be a massive understatement.

Minnesota acquired Gobert in the offseason in what was deemed a blockbuster trade with the Utah Jazz.

In return for the three-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year, the Timberwolves sent four first round picks, their 2022 first round selection Walker Kessler, and additional players to Utah.

But it became quickly evident that the T-Wolves would have buyers remorse.

Gobert’s numbers, both on the offensive and defensive ends of the court, were down across the board.

However, that was the least of the concerns for Minnesota. Because as bad as Gobert was on the court, he appeared even worse off it.

Reports quickly surfaced about Timberwolves teammates not enjoying the company of Gobert. In fact, former NBA All-Star De’Angelo Russell reportedly trashed Gobert prior to being traded to the Los Angeles Lakers at the trade deadline.

Eventually, things had to come to a head. And they did just that on the final day of the regular season.

Gobert got into an altercation with teammate Kyle Anderson that eventually led to the Frenchman throwing a punch. Both players then left the game, and Gobert did not return.

After the contest, Anderson could be heard allegedly telling the Timberwolves front office that they had a decision to make regarding Gobert in the summer.

Minnesota still snuck into the NBA playoffs as the eighth seed. And all would be well if Gobert could somehow stifle two-time NBA MVP Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets.

But that didn’t happen in Game 1. Jokic had a well-rounded performance with 13 points and 14 rebounds and six assists as the Nuggets cruised to a 109-80 victory.

Late in the third quarter, with the game already out of hand, a scuffle broke out between the two teams. One Nuggets fan offered Gobert a world of advice.

“Hey Rudy, you should probably punch him,” the fan could be heard saying on the broadcast while pointing to Anderson.
