Oakland pulled off a monumental upset in March Madness by defeating Kentucky in the First Round on Thursday. However, the Golden Grizzlies men’s lacrosse team cannot stop taking Ls.

They are taking the most cowardly approach to smack talk and it’s an embarrassing look.

Neither school has an NCAA-affiliated varsity lacrosse program. Oakland’s club team competes in the Upper Midwest Lacrosse Conference of the Men’s Collegiate Lacrosse Association. Kentucky’s club team competes in the Midwest Conference of the National College Lacrosse League.

The Grizzlies and the Wildcats do not normally play each other.

However, the latter is now trying to schedule the former. The former is ducking the latter. It’s soft.

Shortly after No. 14-seed Oakland basketball beat No. 3-seed Kentucky by four in the First Round of March Madness, its lacrosse team immediately talked big talk on X. It was entirely warranted!

We have never played Kentucky, but we probably would have won just like our dudes at @OaklandMBB! Let’s go boys!

The Grizzlies even went so far as to say that it would be an easy win.

What proceeded to unfold in response to the initial call out is where things began to turn for the worst. The Wildcats responded back with a challenge. They want to play on the field.

Y’all free in the next few weekends?! 🤷‍♂️

Oakland thought it was being clever with its response. In reality, whomever was on the other end of the keyboard actually tucked his tail and ran for the hills.

We know you are in a dark place, and wouldn’t want to add to your gloom on such a beautiful day!

To make matters worse, Kentucky doubled down and tried to get the game on the calendar.

The Grizzlies, once again, refused to answer the bell. What they thought is a witty reply to the back-and-forth banter is actually a cowardly reply because there was no agreement to compete.

Love that you are thinking of us at 2am!

The Wildcats immediately fired back with yet another jab.

A lot of yapping sounds like someone’s scared!

It has been more than 36 hours since the post that got all of this started went live. It has been more than 24 hours since Kentucky men’s lacrosse issued initial challenge.

Oakland has yet to accept. That’s weak!
