A few days ago, it was reported that free agent wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. was seeking a contract that would pay him around $15 million per season, according to a report from ESPN’s Rich Cimini. Reportedly, Beckham was previously looking for a deal worth $20 million per year.

While Beckham Jr. responded to BroBible’s Dov Kleiman to suggest that the reports about his contract demands were false, it’s still worth looking into the market that OBJ is apparently targeting.

If Beckham Jr. really is seeking a $15M/year deal, that would make him about the 20th highest-paid wide receiver in the league, alongside the likes of Courtland Sutton ($15M/year), Allen Robinson ($15.5M/year), Hunter Renfrow ($15.8M/year), and Mike Evans ($16.5M/year).

Granted, while Beckham Jr. missed the entirety of the 2022 season due to an ACL injury, the players that he apparently feels he deserves to be paid like are actually quite reasonable.

Similar to Evans and Robinson, Beckham is 30 years old. And while he’s been nowhere near as consistent as Mike Evans has during his career (he’s had over 1,000 yards in every single season of his NFL career), he’s certainly been more productive than Allen Robinson, Courtland Sutton, and Hunter Renfrow.

Beckham, who will turn 31 years old during the 2023 season, was drafted by the New York Giants as the 12th overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft. After establishing himself as one of the best pass catchers in the NFL during his four years with the Giants, Beckham Jr’s career hasn’t been the same since he was traded to the Cleveland Browns prior to the 2019 season.

Over the course of his nine-year NFL career, Beckham has racked up 531 catches for 7,367 yards and 56 touchdowns. He hasn’t had a 1,000-yard season since 2019, though.
