Oklahoma listed 13 players on its injury report for the college football game against Texas. There are more players listed as doubtful and questionable after the bye week than before.
What were the Sooners doing during practice?!
Part of me thinks there is some gamesmanship afoot. I would guess that most (if not all) of the college football players listed as questionable will end up playing in the Red River Shootout on Saturday.
Brent Venables was excited to get some players back healthy during the bye week.
Oklahoma head coach Brent Venables spoke with reports on Monday night after practice. He teased some good news.
“We might have several guys available that we didn’t have last game but you won’t know until Wednesday.”
The Sooners are obviously going to keep things close to their chest. They don’t want the Longhorns to know who is or is not going to play. They are going to keep the information as private as possible. No need to tell their biggest rival more than required.
With that being said, Venables’ statement certainly made it sound like Oklahoma was going to get multiple players back who did not play against Georgia in Week 4. Who could that be?
The players who were ruled out against the Bulldogs include offensive lineman Michael Fasusi, defensive back Michael Boganowski, linebackers Cole Sullivan and Taylor Heim, and wide receivers Trell Harris and Jer’Michael Carter. Defensive lineman David Stone was listed as questionable but still played. Linebacker Kip Lewis was listed as probable and played.
However, the bye week has come and gone. The injury report was not quite as positive as expected.
More players are listed on Oklahoma’s injury report than before!
SEC football teams are required to release their initial injury reports on Wednesday. As we have seen with Lane Kiffin, they don’t really mean anything. Coaches can fabricate the truth. Things can change on a day to day basis.
With that being said, Oklahoma listed 13 players.

Boganowski, Carter and Sullivan were all listed as questionable after being ruled out against Georgia. That likely means they are going to play against Texas. We’ll see.
However, there are more players listed on the injury report after the bye week than before. The Sooners listed only eight players on the injury report two weeks ago.

What the heck happened between Week 4 and Week 6? Most of the new injuries likely occurred during the loss to the Bulldogs but the five additional players listed on Wednesday raises questions about practice. What was Oklahoma doing during the bye week?
