Norway’s Birk Ruud had secured the Olympic gold medal in the men’s big air event before even taking his final run of the competition. Instead of just cruising down to the bottom of the mountain, he decided to take a victory lap, and it was absolutely epic.

Ruud held his country’s flag in one hand and managed to pull off a number of impressive rotations and a grab. He landed perfectly and unfurled the Norway flag in what will surely be a moment he’ll never forget.

The judges appreciated Ruud’s classy final run as well and rewarded him with scores of 69. We’re not talking about just one or two judges handing out 69’s, all six judges did, in what you could certainly call a very nice gesture.

The gold medal in men’s big air was Ruud’s first career Olympic medal. The 21-year-old did enter the Games as a well-known star in big air with two big air golds to his name from past Winter X Games both in the United States and Norway.
