Oscar De La Hoya is one of the most coveted boxers in combat sports history and has a two-part documentary called The Golden Boy releasing on HBO Max on July 24.

Leading up to the release of his story, the famed boxer sat down with Ariel Helwani where he opened up about the viral lingerie photos as the height of his career.

Now, depending on your age, you either remember these photos or you don’t. In 2007, Oscar De La Hoya went viral after controversial pictures of him wearing lingerie were leaked.

At the time, he was the WBC welterweight champion where he ended up losing to Floyd Mayweather Jr. that year.

He hasn’t spoken about it much since going viral. However, with his new documentary releasing on Monday, Oscar De La Hoya finally opens up about the lingerie photos.

Here is what he had to say while talking with Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour.

De La Hoya lived a crazy life. There’s no doubt about it. I mean, could you imagine being one of the most famous people in sports throughout the 1990s and early 2000s?

It’s really cool to see that he’s not shying away from it either. There are plenty of people who probably would. But all things considering, Oscar De La Hoya seems to be keeping it real.

De La Hoya fought 45 times throughout his 16 year career in professional boxing. He ended with a 39-6 record and held 10 world titles in six different weight classes.

He’s truly a boxing legend and his upcoming documentary The Golden Boy should be must watch television for combat sports fans.
