The big story of the FIFA Women’s World Cup has been the lackluster play of the US Women’s National Team. After all, that’s what most people in America care about.

Yes, the USWNT is undefeated, but they haven’t played well. The Stars and Stripes have scored just four goals in three game,s three coming against Vietnam in their opening match as they advanced out of Group E in second place.

They play Sunday morning at 6AM ET against Sweden in the Round of 16. But, in the meantime, other matches are going on, one of them being Spain vs. Switzerland in the first game of the knockout rounds.

And, it had the biggest blunder of the tournament so far. With Spain dominating the match and leading 1-0 early, disaster struck. Take a look.

That was Spain’s Laia Codina in her FIFA Women’s World Cup debut. And, Twitter was having their laughs.

Luckily for Codina, she would redeem herself with a goal later in the first half.

As of the publishing of this article, Spain led Switzerland 5-1, meaning that own goal will mean nothing more than a clip of bloopers for years to come.
