Most NFL fans have various traditions they partake in on gameday, and while they differ from team to team and person to person, I don’t think it’s a stretch to suggest most people have “Consuming copious amounts of beer” on their list of beloved pastimes-and that’s definitely the case with Packers fans.
That reality is pretty obvious to anyone who’s gotten to experience an NFL tailgate in person, headed to a sports bar on a Sunday, or simply makes their way through a six-pack over the course of a few hours while watching a game on their couch.
However, some new data would suggest there are certain groups of supporters who really go above and beyond.
Earlier this year, we were treated to a list of the “Drunkest Cities in America,” where Green Bay claimed the crown and the Top 10 boasted a whopping seven places located in the state of Wisconsin.
As a result, it’s not exactly shocking to learn the Packers came out on top in a recent survey that was used to determine the drunkest fans in the NFL.
That tidbit came courtesy of the “NFL Fan Awards” that Pickswise handed out earlier this month based on feedback from 3,200 football fans who answered a number of different questions about their gameday habits—including one that asked how many beers they consume when everything is said and done.
As you can see, Packers fans helped Wisconsin live up to its reputation, as they once again soared above the rest of the competition by downing more than six beers per game on average:
- Green Bay Packers: 6.2 beers
- Chicago Bears: 5.2 beers
- Las Vegas Raiders: 4.6 beers
- Minnesota Vikings: 4.5 beers
- Philadelphia Eagles: 4.1 beers
Again, this shouldn’t necessarily come as a huge surprise, but congratulations to the people of Green Bay for once again firming up Wisconsin as the Drinking Capital of America.
