Former UFC and BKFC fighter Paige Vanzant announced on her podcast that she has accepted a boxing match for sometime in May or June.

This will be the first straight-up standard boxing match for the 29-year-old VanZant.

On the podcast posted on Wednesday, Paige stated, “I got called by my manager day before yesterday, and I got offered a fight. A boxing match, and I took it. I don’t know if I can give all the details, I haven’t signed a contract yet. I accepted the fight.”

VanZant didn’t specify who her opponent would be or for what boxing organization she would be fighting for, but did explain that it was initially supposed to take place in March.

“It was initially, the date they offered me was March 23rd, which was perfect,” Paige VanZant revealed. “Hell yeah, I’ll get one more fight in before I turn 30, because I turn 30 March 26th. So I told my manager f— yeah, I’ll take it. I’ll get back into boxing. I was just really excited.

“The opportunity was really cool. So it was perfect, eight-week camp, I don’t have that long to stress or overthink, or anything like that, so that’s perfect. It turns out it’s not going to be March 23rd.

“After I accepted it, they’re like, you know what, we’re going to move it to, um, I think June, no May, yeah May or June. I heard both dates, so once I have the full information, we’ll be able to release it on the podcast. Accepted a boxing match, that will be my next fight. It’s really, really exciting.”

While she still expects to compete for Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship, this upcoming match will just be regular boxing.

“Gloves on, it’s just straight boxing,” she continued. “I did think my next fight would be a bare-knuckle boxing match, but this opportunity came forward, and I was just like f— it, let’s go. So took a fight.”

Paige VanZant, who hasn’t fought since July 23, 2021, went 8-5 in the UFC after starting out her pro MMA career 6-1. In the BKFC, she currently holds a record of 0-2 after two unanimous decision losses to Britain Hart and Rachael Ostovich.

She was supposed to fight in August 2022, but the fight was canceled by BKFC at the last minute due to what they called “logistical issues.”
