Head coaching rumors are beginning to heat up with the regular season coming to an end. Jim Harbaugh is considered a hot name this year and he apparently has a team on his mind.

The Carolina Panthers are going to conduct a search for a possible new head coach, despite players wanting Steve Wilks to retain the position.

Well, according to Jonathan Jones, Jim Harbaugh has reached out to the Panthers to possibly be their new head coach. However, it sounds like Carolina isn’t the one making the calls. Rumors suggest that Harbaugh wants to return to the NFL and it appears he’s incredibly interested to coach this franchise.

Jonathan Jones explains the situation by claiming, “Harbaugh — or his representation — had been calling [Owner David] Tepper with some regularity in recent weeks. Tepper eventually held a conversation with Harbaugh, but it was never characterized as a job interview for the permanent head coaching job in Carolina.”

These of course are rumors for now. However, if true, then the Panthers might be holding all of the cards. Jim Harbaugh has proven himself to be a solid head coach. For that reason, you’d think Carolina would jump at the opportunity to hire him.

There is still a long road ahead of the head coaching search for this franchise. We’ll see how it plays out, but rumors suggest we should be keeping tabs on Jim Harbaugh and the Panthers.
