Patrick Beverley is opening up about his side of a recent trade between the Lakers and Magic. The guard says that he actually requested to be dealt out of Los Angeles.

That insight has caused many NBA fans to react as they post their responses on social media.

Pat Bev was part of a deal that sent him to the East Coast in exchange for center Mo Bamba. He then agreed to a buyout with Orlando and signed with his hometown team, the Chicago Bulls.

Following the move, Beverley said he had one thing in mind over the remainder of the year – keeping the Lakers out of the playoffs.

“Knock them out the playoffs. We’ve got to get in the playoffs, so excuse us, like a little elbow scooch.”

The Bulls still have a pair of matchups remaining on the schedule against the Lakers, and it’s clear he hasn’t forgotten about his being dealt. But recent comments made on his Pat Bev podcast have many around the league in disbelief.

Patrick Beverley says that he actually requested the trade.

He wants the world to know what “really, really, really went down in LA.”

“To some people, it can be like, well Pat Bev got traded, when in all reality, I didn’t like what was going on. Let’s find a better home for me. It wasn’t, ‘So he wasn’t good enough, let’s get rid of him.’ It was my decision.”

While it’s plausible for any NBA player to ask for some new scenery, many are questioning whether this was the case for Beverley. Most point to his immediate reaction upon learning that the Lakers added former Minnesota teammate D’Angelo Russell at the deadline.

The remark caught plenty of attention online. Take a look at the immediate social media reaction from fans.

Patrick Beverley has taken his menacing ways to the Windy City, but not everyone is convinced that it was his decision.
