Don’t ask Patrick Mahomes for an autograph while he’s in the middle of a golf tournament.
Over the weekend, Mahomes competed in the American Century Championship at Lake Tahoe.
During one of his shots, a kid standing nearby asked Mahomes for his autograph. Mahomes politely declined by saying, “I can’t make everybody happy,” The kid’s dad replied, “No, you can, you can just make one kid happy out of 100,” which led to Mahomes firing back, “I’ll make 99 sad.”

Fans seemed to be on Mahomes’ side after the exchange went viral.
Gotta love the entitlement of people that think athletes owe them anything https://t.co/NoyMdk48Z3

The guy is in the middle of a tournament and then this grown ass man basically says “Upset all those other kids to make mine happy” after Mahomes gives a perfectly reasonable explanation for not signing it.
Weird as hell. https://t.co/Q682b3r6Vy

Others felt that the exchange was completely fine and neither side was in the wrong.
Neither side deserves blame. Dad was trying to get his kid an autograph and Mahomes can't do it there. https://t.co/v0sCHQqe4r

Nothing wrong with the Dad applying a little pressure. It’s not like he called him out or cussed him or anything. Mahomes’s response was completely fine as well. I’m cool with this interaction https://t.co/UBAOZgVnRj
