Being an absolutely massive human being is basically a prerequisite if you want to play most positions in the NFL, and as a result, players like Christian McCaffery devote their lives to getting swole AF so they can compete on the highest level possible.

In a perfect world, hard work and dedication would be all you need to achieve your ideal physique. Unfortunately, the world is far from perfect, and as a result, plenty of players turn to a tried-and-tested strategy to bulk up: pumping themselves full of steroids.

This would appear to include Arizona Cardinals cornerback Patrick Peterson, who was recently suspended for the first six games of the 2019 season after testing positive for PEDs (a development that delighted Patriots fans who still haven’t forgotten about the Deflategate debacle).

Peterson declined to issue a statement after the suspension was first reported, but on Thursday night, he addressed the situation for the first time prior to a charity event.

Hoping for a full transcript of his comments? I’ve got you:

“Definitely, definitely sorry what broke out today… I think you guys understand my character and also understand my commitment on and off the field, and also to my teammates and also to the Arizona Cardinals organization.

That’s why this is apparently very, very hard for me ’cause obviously I’ve never been in this situation before and I never wanted to have my name attached to anything like this. I’m looking to move forward and put this behind me.

I want to thank my family, my teammates, the coaching staff, the Arizona Cardinals community, and also the organization. And I’m looking forward to getting back Week 7. I’m going to continue to try to keep that smile on my face and get back to being the best DB in the league.”

Hey, Patrick? Did you take steroids?

At least this case won’t end up in federal court.
