Depending on how into movies and TV you are, you may or may not recognize the name Paul Walter Hauser. Even if you don’t, however, you’ve certainly seen him before.
Since breaking into the business in 2010 with roles in Community and It’s Always Sunny, Hauser has appeared in films such as I Tonya, BlacKkKlansman, Richard Jewell, Da 4 Bloods, Cruella, and Inside Out 2, and TV series such as Cobra Kai and Black Bird, for which he was awarded an Emmy Award and a Golden Globe Award.
He also has a bevy of big projects in the pipeline such as The Instigators alongside Matt Damon, The Naked Gun remake with Liam Neeson, and Marvel Studios’ The Fantastic Four. He was also rumored to have a role in Quentin Tarantino’s The Movie Critic before the mercurial director scrapped it.
Just because Hauser is turning into a star, however, does not mean he wants to begin acting like one, as he recently nixed a reporter who compared him to Vin Diesel.
Speaking to CinemaBlend, Hauser asked the interviewer to “Please [not] say that” after they compared Hauser’s arc in Inside Out 2 to Vin Diesel.
“Please don’t say that,” Hauser said. “I like to think I am on time and approachable.”
“I love people, but when I hear stories about Hollywood actors who get paid really well and mistreat people… I out them constantly, and it’s a blast.”

Hauser is referring to long-running rumors and reports that Diesel is unprofessional on film sets, often showing up late and out of shape, in addition to allegedly not knowing his lines. Diesel’s unprofessionalism was the reported reason that director Justin Lin exited Fast X in the midst of production.
