When Peyton Manning took the role as QB for the Denver Broncos he immediately got to buying up a bunch of Papa Johns pizza franchises, and then marijuana was legalized!
Recently Peyton sat down with SI’s Peter King to discuss life, the universe, and everything…and one of the things they discussed was how the legalization of recreational marijuana has affected thet pizza business in Colorado:
The MMQB: Do you vote?
MANNING: Yeah, I do vote. I have voted ever since I’ve been eligible to vote. It’s not a simple process when you go in there. There’s always a little more that goes along with it. In Indianapolis, there’s a Jewish Community Center right near my house, and so… Yeah, I don’t do it just to do it. You try to know who you’re voting for. I was good friends with the Governor of Indiana, Mitch Daniels, who’s now the president of Purdue. Probably could have been President of the United States. You try to get to know them. I’ve gotten to know some of the folks here in Colorado. There’s some different laws out here in Colorado. Pizza business is pretty good out here, believe it or not, due to some recent law changes. So when you come to a different place, you’ve kind of got to learn everything that comes with it.
I think anyone would be a fool to deny the fact that marijuana legalization enhances the pizza business. If there’s one side of marijuana legalization you want to be on, it’s the supplier…whether it’s selling the buds themselves, vaporizers, or pizza. Stoners are going to buy the essentials, and ‘ol Peyton had the foresight to get in on the ground floor.
Myself, I had the fortune to visit Boulder/Denver, Colorado for this year’s 4/20, the unofficial annual stoner celebration. This year however was the first every 4/20 in Colorado where marijuana was legalized for recreational use, and I took a trip to the High Times Cannabis Cup.
