PFL Founder Goes On Wild Rant Hating On Former Star Kayla Harrison

As a self-proclaimed hater, I can appreciate it when someone holds nothing back while unloading on someone they really do not like.

But PFL founder Donn Davis took things a bit too far recently when discussing former star Kayla Harrison and her decision to leave for the UFC.

Davis went on the Weighing In show on YouTube on Monday and was asked about Harrison’s decision to leave despite the PFL jumpstarting her MMA career.

“Some people at the very, very, very top of their career are LeBron James and some at the very, very top are Kevin Durant and they’re both otherworldly basketball players, but who they are is very different as people,” he said. “One wants to lead and change their sport and wherever they are is the best in the world. The other is a follower who needs validation and we couldn’t do anything about that”

For one, that’s an interesting assessment of LeBron James’s career. But more so, it feels like a highly unnecessary shot at a woman who made Davis a lot of money.

And he didn’t stop there.

Davis then pivoted to an attack on the UFC as a whole.

“The classic promoter job of the UFC, developing talent, forming a relationship with talent, and making talent think you’re in their corner, guess who’s winning that game? It ain’t them,” he said. “Fighters don’t want to be there, fighters aren’t signing there, and if fighters leave there, we’ll have more of them.”

Harrison made her UFC debut at UFC 300 and walked away with an impressive victory over Holly Holm via second-round submission.

The two-time Olympic gold medalist was so impressive that she even prompted a reaction for former two-division champ Amanda Nunes, who had previously announced her retirement from the UFC.
