Phil Mickelson participated in LIV Golf’s tournament in Gainesville, Virginia this weekend. The veteran golfer went viral for an incredible shot during his Sunday round.
Mickelson got creative with his short game to get out of a bunker near the green. He hit the ball over his own head to a hole located behind him.
The shot came on the 17th hole during his final day of play. Mickelson sent his second approach sailing near a bunker close to the hole. It landed in the rough just outside the hazard.
Mickelson set up to take his shot with his feet planted in the sand. The pin was almost behind him as he took his swing. It didn’t matter!

The lefty sank the birdie shot by hitting his ball over his own head. The improbable feat immediately trended on social media.

Mickelson is one of the best short game players in the game of golf. He added another incredible shot to his list on Sunday. The birdie helped him secure a -6 on his final round. He ended the tournament tied for fourth at -13.
