Some know him a “Mr. 305.” Others as “Mr. Worldwide.” But you can call him the new title sponsor of Pitbull Stadium at Florida International University.
That’s right.
Music superstar Pitbull is reportedly set to pay Florida International University $1.2 million a year for five years in order to secure the naming rights to the school’s football stadium.

“The FIU Board of Trustees is set to vote Tuesday to approve a five-year deal to give the name Pitbull Stadium to what’s currently known as FIU Stadium,” ESPN’s Pete Thamel reports. “Pitbull will pay the school $1.2 million per year for five years, according to the documents tied to the vote. The rapper, singer and businessman, whose name is Armando Christian Perez, is also known as “Mr. 305″ — a nod to Miami’s area code — and attended Miami Coral Park High School.”
But wait, there’s more!
Pitbull could also opt to extend the deal to sponsor the 20,000-seat stadium for five more years if all goes according to plan.

The Grammy Award-winning pop star will also create an anthem for FIU, post about the school on social media 12 times a year and appear at one athletics fundraising event per year according to the terms of the deal.
So, what does he get from it all?
Pitbull will get use of the stadium 10 days per year throughout the term of the deal and the vodka company he owns will be the preferred brand distributed in the stadium,” Thamel reports. “There’s also perks like two reserved suites for all home football games.”
Personally speaking, we love it!
College football programs selling their souls to corporations for naming rights sucks. But it’s inevitable in modern college sports. At least this one is fun, and it’s a lot better than “Random Multinational Bank Stadium.”
Plus, Pitbull pairs well with FIU’s incredible “Miami Vice” uniforms.
